Family Engagement and Support
At AB Christian Learning Center, we firmly believe that family engagement is integral to everything we do. We continually explore how best to provide information to families and how to encourage them to become authentic co-partners with educators. Our goal is to empower families to support their children's academic journeys effectively.
Cultivating Collaboration with Families
Family engagement manifests in various ways. Our leadership team meets regularly with parents and caregivers to cultivate active involvement in their children's education. We emphasize the positive impacts of practices such as reading with young children and maintaining strong school attendance.
Additionally, we organize quarterly learning forums featuring community experts. These forums cover a wide range of topics, from health care and early childhood education to college and career support. We wholeheartedly encourage parents and caregivers to volunteer within our program and at after-hours events, reinforcing the bond between home and school.

The Power of 7
Over the years, we've continuously asked ourselves: What is the best way to engage families? How can we empower them to co-partner in their children’s education?
Our answer lies in the “Power of 7,” a community-based model introduced by our founder, Loretta Burns, at the National League of Cities conference in Michigan in 2016. The Power of 7 aims to equip parents and caregivers as true partners in their children's education.
This model is built on the premise that everyone has personal relationships with at least seven other individuals who can influence a child's life. By leveraging these connections, we can enhance the effectiveness of parent and family engagement.
